Getting Better
…Every Day
5th Best crossfitter in the world
From a young age, I was extremely competitive. Starting as young as 5, my first endeavour into the sporting field was little athletics. From there, I found a love for Rugby Union, travelling interstate at 16 to compete in a high level and to ultimately work towards my goal of playing for Australia. To assist me with this, I found CrossFit.
Over time, my accessory work in CrossFit took over and I found myself in the gym working on new skills and trying to improve my benchmark scores more than I was on the rugby field. In 2012, I attempted the CrossFit Open and placed 47th and earned myself a spot at the Australian CrossFit Regional Competition. Going in with no expectations and coming out with a 9th place, my hunger for CrossFit success began.
In 2013, I set up my affiliate, CrossFit Mode to help support my dreams of making the CrossFit Games. After placing 11th in 2013, 4th in 2014, 13th in 2015 – I finally made the CrossFit Games placing 2nd at regionals in 2016. In 2017, 2018 and 2019 I have placed 1st at the Regional/Sanctional events, which has earned me 4 consecutive years at the CrossFit Games. I have placed 26th, 27th and 17th respectively, and in 2019 I placed 5th in the World CrossFit Games, earning the title of the 5th Fittest Man on Earth.
How I Bounced Back
This is the story on how I was able to finish Busselton's full distance Ironman triathlon five weeks after being diagnosed with broken bones in my back from a mountain biking accident. I share this story to inspire others to focus on a positive outlook.
